3 Advantages of shooting in RAW:  higher dynamic range
                                                          typically a propriety format
                                                          at least 8 bits per color

1 Disadvantage: not suitable w/ out processing

3 Advantages of shooting in JPEG: sharper
                                                         immediately suitable for printing posting, etc.
                                                         able to be manipulated 

1 Disadvantage: lower in dynamic range



How much of the data does a RAW file retain when its captured by the camera?
         - ALL of the data.

What are some of the things that a RAW file enables a photographer to edit after the image is taken?
         -white balance, contrast, highlights, shadows, colors and saturation.

What factors must a photographer consider when deciding to soot in RAW?
         - not all cameras have RAW, RAW files are larger than JPEG, you can convert RAW to JPEG but not the other way around.

Why would an aspiring professional photographer need to know how to work w/ RAW files?
          -if they wanna compete w/ the best, they need to learn editing skills and develop the techniques that will enhance your photos
